The dissertation analyses modern philosophical psychological and pedagogical studies of the phenomenon of childhood and the reflection of the issue of the philosophy of childhood in pedagogogical works by V.Sykhomlynskiy. The three chapters of the dissertation give an idea of the essence and aims characteristics of childhood as a pedagogical category, the content and methodological analysis of the phenomenon of childhood. The genesis of the issue of the philosophy of childhood in philosophical and pedagogical systems is retraced, various approaches to the problem of childhood period in humane studies are reflected. An attempt to give a definition of the notion of “the philosophy of childhood” as a pedagogical category and a new trend in the philosophical and pedagogical studies is made. The theoretical and practical experience of the pedagogue-thinker and his views on the child's nature, the ways of solving the problems of creating ecological conditions for the childhood development by the teaching staff of Pavlysh school are analysed. The importance of a childhood period for the development of the nervous system, child`s thinking and the formation of the child`s world-outlook is investigated and well-grounded. The possibility of the creative use of the idea of the philosophy of childhood for practical activities in current country schools is proved. Author school models according to V.Sukhomlynskiy as ecological environment of childhood and child's development are elaborated.
